The initiative
Santu Vitu On demand is a project supported by Fondazione con il Sud through the "Bando per la mobilità sostenibile al Sud" and promoted by Fratellanza Popolare F. Sardelli, Cooperativa Nui, Qualcosa di Diverso, Tecnonews, STP Brindisi, and Comune di San Vito dei Normanni.
SVOD (Santu Vitu On Demand) aims to promote sustainable mobility in the municipality of San Vito dei Normanni, in the province of Brindisi, by launching and managing an on-demand shared transport system. The initiative seeks to integrate urban mobility services to meet the needs of citizens traveling for work or leisure over short and medium distances.
Particular attention is given to the most vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and people with reduced mobility, who can benefit from the service thanks to vehicles equipped for facilitated transport.
The vehicle fleet consists of 3 electric/hybrid minivans with 9 seats each. The service is managed through a digital platform, supported by a call center, which allows users to book their shared ride in one of the electric/hybrid minivans of the fleet for trips within the municipality or to places of collective interest such as the station, airport, schools, and tourist destinations. This way, users can share the ride with others.
